We are pleased to share COLUMN PI Peter Bille Larsen’s publication of new edited volume ‘Decolonial Engagements in Anthropology’.

Published in 2026 as part of Edward Elgar’s Decolonizing Research series, the volume brings together interdisciplinary perspectives on the relationship between engaged anthropology and the decolonial turn. It explores how anthropological practice can engage critically with colonial legacies and contemporary forms of colonialism across different fields and contexts.

The volume follows European University Legacies: The Colonial Past and Present of Higher Education, which examines the colonial legacies of European universities and is edited by COLUMN PI Peter Bille Larsen and PI Markéta Křížová.

Decolonial Engagements in Anthropology connects closely with COLUMN interest in decolonial approaches, colonial legacies, and critical engagement with institutions and knowledge practices.

The book is published with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation and is now available open access under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence.
